Keynote Conferences in video

State of the Geopolymer R&D 2015 Keynote by Joseph Davidovits.

It is a review on what happened in 2014 and the first semester of 2015 on geopolymer science and applications. In his keynote, Prof. J. Davidovits developed following topics:

1) Geopolymer science

  • Exponential increase of laboratories and scientific publications
  • Creation with Elsevier of the Virtual Journal on Geopolymer Science
  • Report on Geopolymer WEBINARs 2014: The basics of geopolymer science
  • Geopolymers are inorganic macromolecules, polymers, not alkali-activation.
  • Clarifying Statement: history of geopolymer development vs. alkali-activation by Glukhovsky.
  • State of the 15 Research topics on geopolymer science
  • The manufacture of geopolymer cements: evolution since 1983-1985 of geopolymer cement formulation, diminution of K-silicate from 50% by weight to 14% by weight.
  • Geopolymer concrete: Brisbane Wellcamp airpot made of Geopolymer Concrete
  • Radioactive and Nuclear Waste: Fukushima clean up with geopolymer

2) Geopolymer technologies

  • Geopolymer components through 3D printing.
  • Foundry sand core application (video).

3) Geopolymer Cements / Concretes

  • Miliken launched a new product, GeoSpray, a special mortar and grout for infrastructure rehabilitation.
  • Wagners new Brisbane Wellcamp Airport involving 70,000 tonnes of geopolymer concrete EFC.
  • Why did it take so long: standards for geopolymer cement/concrete, Australian AS 3600, USA ASTM C1157

Keynote by Henk Nugteren, TU Delft, The Netherlands: Geopolymer coating of bacteria-containing granules for use in self-healing concrete.
